After much sleep, day two of NYC was underway. If you missed day one, you can catch up here.
Sunday morning, the girls, Amanda, and I headed out to see Lady Liberty bright and early. We knew that we were in NYC in January. However, we were not quite prepared for the reality of the cold morning wind as we got closer to Battery Park. Cold does not even begin to describe the situation that morning.
We were troopers, and continued on. Near the entrance of Battery Park the damaged statue from the World Trade Center is displayed with an eternal flame.
This is my little snuggle bunny with a really pink nose! |
She may be country, but she knows fire is warm! |
One of my favorite pictures from the entire trip was completely spontaneous. These two little travelers just L.O.V.E. each other. They were (and always have been) incredibly affectionate.
Move over Lady Liberty! |
Taylor and I were posing for the following picture when the craziest thing happened.
My traveling partner and I |
A small group of international visitors wanted to take pictures with us. So, we sat and smiled, and smiled, and smiled. Really, we were thinking exactly what is written all over Sophie's face.
Sophie: Who is that woman? |
Although the girls were amazed at the size of the Statue of Liberty, they were fascinated with the birds. They had the best time chasing the birds around the grassy area.
Look Dad, they have birds in NYC too! |
As Amanda and I were following Taylor and Sophie toward the flag, they again spontaneously started holding hands. I noticed it in their shadows and stopped them to take a picture.
Truly, peas in a pod who think the world of each other. |
I know I stopped the girls for approximately five seconds to snap the picture. Within that five seconds, Taylor Reid and Sophie Kate were celebrities! We stood and let the same group of international travelers snap pictures and "oooo" and "awww" for a couple of minutes. Finally, we had to tell the stars to just come on so we could catch the ferry back to Battery Park.
Autographs will be available by email soon. |
Grab your sunglasses, these stars are bright! |
Day Two, part Two will follow shortly....
